The International Conference on Marriage Migration and Development Justice will happen in Manila, Philippines this November 9-10, 2015.
Organized by the Action Network for Marriage Migrants’ Rights and Empowerment (AMMORE), the conference aims to gather marriage migrants and their advocates around the world to: (1) discuss the urgent issues and concerns they are currently facing; (2) tackle the current international platforms and discussions on migration and development; and (3) develop a campaign plan whereby marriage migrants around the globe will participate in and amplify their positions, concerns and demands both at the national and international levels.
Discussions will also center on the recently developed Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations in which migration has become a key element. To wit, we ask: just how much will these goals be beneficial to marriage migrants and their families? How do and should marriage migrants look at these developments and what issues and positions will they put forward? Development justice will be one of the issues that will be discussed during the conference.
