Asia Pacific Mission for Migrants (APMM) conducts researches on the various dimensions of migration and the migrant’s movement. Research serves an important part in the overall education for it provides relevant information to better understand migration.

Below are some of the geographical and issue-based researches that APMM has conducted over the last decade:

Indonesia
Historical Development and Policies on Overseas Employment in Indonesia
The purpose of this research is to get an overview of how Indonesian migration developed and how it became an integral part of national government programs. This overview is important in order to better understand the current situation of Indonesian migrants. A case study of the issues and response of Indonesian Migrant Workers (IMWs) in Hong Kong is also included in the research.

Japan
Deteriorating conditions in the Japanese economy and its impact on migrant labor
The purpose of this study is to gather already published literature regarding the current economic situation in Japan and how it impacts governmental policies on immigration and foreign workers. This would serve as background material to the ongoing research project of the SVD-JPIC Asia Region and Asia Pacific Mission for Migrants (APMM) on the “ASIA PACIFIC WIDE RESEARCH AND DOCUMENTATION ACTIVITY FOR MIGRANT WORKERS PARTICULARLY IN JAPAN AND SOUTH KOREA”.

Korea
SEGYEHWA ("Globalization") and Korea: Worsening Crisis in Society, Worsening Conditions for Migrant Workers
The purpose of this study is to gather current and past studies, data and information regarding the impacts of globalization policies into the foreign labor market in Korea. As one of the major destinations of migrant labor and one of the “hot spots” for undocumented workers, Korea has been steadily restricting entry and has been intensifying its crackdown towards undocumented workers.

Philippines
The Role and Process of Remittances in the Labor Export Industry in the Philippines
(Part 1 - Part 2 )
This two-part research is an exploration on the place of remittances of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) to the Philippine economy. OFW remittance has always been considered to be one main sources, if not the main source, of the dollars for the Philippines. The research deals on the forms and impacts of OFW remittance. The current policies of the Philippine government on OFW remittance is further explored in the second part of the research. This research was submitted ot the Asia Pacific Research Network (APRN).

“Case Study on the Development of Filipino Migrants Movement in Some Selected Countries in the Asia Pacific & Middle East Regions”
A study on the historical development of the Filipino progressive migrants movement. It chronicles the start and the progress of the movement in general and also in particular countries Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia and South Korea. The research also includes lessons drawn up from the experiences of Filipino migrant organizations.

Taiwan
Triple Whammy: A Study on the Contemporary Situation and Problems of Indonesian Migrant Workers in Taiwan
This book is a collection of three researches conducted by the Asia Pacific Mission for Migrants (APMM) in cooperation with the Graduate Institute for Social Transformati on Studies, Shih Hsin University in Taiwan and the Centre for Environment, Gender and Development (ENGENDER-HK) and supported by the Women Empowerment in Muslim Contexts (WEMC) project.

For Better or For Worse: Comparative Research on Equity and Access for Marriage Migrants
This comparative study of marriage migrants in Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong and Australia gives us a glimpse into the reality of marriage migration in the region. While it touches on how marriage migrants are initially exploited by way of marriage brokers and other marriage business schemes, it mainly looks into how
they become further discriminated and oppressed by receiving or host governments who implement restrictive policies and laws for them.

The research project on the Impacts of Globalization on Women Migrants is an off shoot of the Asia-Pacific Conference on Women and Labour organized by the Asia-Pacific Research Network (APRN) held in Thailand.

Global Migration 2010 
A compendium of regional statistics on labor migration, incorporating some themes and analysis on structural forces driving the global phenomenon. It also includes sections on marriage migration and undocumented workers (or irregular migration) into each regional proile to foreground two of APMM’s main thematic programs.

Relevance, Nexus and Prospects: An Impact Study on the GFMD and Its Migration Paradigm
An impact study of the Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) and its ideology of "migration for development", from the perspective of migrant workers and advocates. Conducted in the second half of 2011, and in partnership with IBON Foundation and KARIBU Foundation.
