Welcome Kathleen, our Filipino intern from HKU

Let us all welcome, Kathleen Magramo, a Filipino intern from Hong Kong University.

Kathleen is a Filipino born in Hong Kong. She has lived her all her life and is now studying Political Science at HKU. She will be with Nikki and Humaira as summer interns to APMM.

Please read more about her.

Hi, everyone! I’m Kathleen Magramo, an incoming third year student studying Politics and Public Administration in HKU and I will be interning at APMM for two months. In my time at APMM, I hope to conduct research that would influence policymaking and the media in advocating for a better work environment for migrant workers.

As a Filipina born and raised in Hong Kong, I embrace both cultures by making friends with Filipinos and locals in school an din different societies. I believe that safety net woven of rights empowerment, legal assistance and sense of community is pivotal to the multi-faceted problems migrant workers may face.

Aside from work, a fun fact about myself is that I can also speak, Cantonese, Mandarin and Tagalog fluently. I’m also learning Spanish just for fun. I also love to dance so I’m looking forward to learning traditional Filipino dances with the migrant workers at Chater Road every Sunday.
