[NEW SITUATIONER] Filipino Migrant Workers in Penang, Malaysia: Conditions and prospects for organizing

APMM is happy to share a new situationer on the conditions of Filipino migrant workers in Penang, Malaysia!

This paper looks into the different demographic information, labor migration situation, and a broad picture of how migrant organizing can be fostered in the area. Through in-depth interviews from domestic workers, cleaners, and factory workers in an economic zone in Penang, readers will be illuminated by the concrete experiences of Filipino migrant workers who bear different levels of labor issues and personal hardships.

The paper also provides a set of recommendations on how to mobilize Filipino workers and build strong areas of collaboration and solidarity that will help in asserting their rights to both the Philippine and Malaysian governments.
