APMM attends the UCCP-Southern Tagalog Conference 74th Annual Session
The UCCP-Southern Tagalog Conference held its 74th Annual Session under a quadrennial theme: Restoring and Rebuilding with Hope: Heralding the New Heaven and the New Earth on May 2-3 in the UCCP First Evangelical Church, San Pablo City. Attended by 78 church workers and lay leaders from Bondoc Peninsula in South Quezon, Central Quezon and Laguna the said annual session assessed the conference last year programs and activities, approved the proposed program, budget and recommendations from the leadership body, commissions and committees and resolutions, highlighting the prophetic ministry of the church. Most importantly, it upheld the assignments of the UCCP church workers, elected the conference representatives to UCCP General Quadrennial Assembly in 2026, and held the ordination of one of its church workers welcoming her to the ordained ministry of the church.
Rev. Joram H. Calimutan an ecumenical co-worker assigned to the Asia Pacific Mission for Migrants (APMM) since 2016 shared about the APMM’s work with and for migrants in the Asia Pacific and Middle East regions and the UCCP-HK Fellowship. The APMM through its various activities and programs under advocacy and campaign, education and research, and network organizing, cooperation and partnership co-organized and collaborated with grassroots migrants in destination countries to increase the latter’s capacity for advocacy, campaign, research, network and alliance building. He also shared the institution’s work with faith communities through the Asia Pacific Interfaith Network for the Rights of Migrants (AP INFORM) amplifying faith unity and solidarity; upholding the rights and well-being of migrants, refugees and other displaced people and their families.
Meanwhile, the UCCP-HK Fellowship established in 2015 continued to grow and reach-out to other UCCP members working in Hong Kong. The said worshipping congregation has 30 to 35 regular church goers from UCCP local churches in North Luzon, Southern Tagalog, Bicol, Visayas and Mindanao regions. Despite being a small worshipping congregation, the fellowship continues to support the ministries of the wider church through the wider mission support directed to UCCP national office.
The UCCP-STC Annual Conference enlightened delegates on the importance of doing Christ mission in wider ecumenical communities. Its ecumenical co-workers assigned to various church and ecumenical based institutions in the Philippines and abroad partnering with the United Church of Christ in the Philippines (UCCP) manifesting church support to various ministries emanating from the Gospel values of justice, human rights and peace. ###
