“Sama-Sama, Sangha-Sangha”: A dynamic online repository for migrants, by migrants

Following the recently concluded "You Are Not Alone" Project Partners Meeting of APMM with our partners in Kathmandu, Nepal last October 22-23, we are excited to share with you an online community hub - for migrants, by migrants!

Called the "Sama-Sama, Sangha-Sangha", the hub is envisioned as a dynamic digital repository that features creative works, news, research, and other resources that reflect the wide-ranging realities migrants face, from leaving their homes to settling in new countries.

The website is also open for submissions from grassroots migrants and CSOs from different countries who wish to share their works and narratives around migration .

ABOUT SAMA-SAMA, SANGHA-SANGHA

Sama-Sama, Sangha-Sangha is an online community born from the conversations, stories, and shared experiences of migrants and advocates across the Asia Pacific in championing rights and wellbeing of migrants and combating trafficking.

The name Sama-Sama, Sangha-Sangha draws from languages across the region. Sama-Sama is both a Filipino and Indonesian term for “together”. Sangha-Sangha is Nepali for “together” and, if pronounced in Tagalog, is homonymous to sanga-sanga which means branching out. Together, the name reflects the spirit of unity, care, and collective struggle that underpins the migrant experience and advocacy across borders.

Envisioned as a dynamic digital repository, the hub features creative works, news, research, and other resources that reflect the wide-ranging realities migrants face, from leaving their homes to settling in new countries. But being more than just an archive, Sama-Sama, Sangha-Sangha seeks to deepen public understanding of migration, particularly around issues of exploitation and labor trafficking, by centering the voices of migrants and grassroots advocates.

Sama-Sama, Sangha-Sangha will be both a platform and a tool where marginalized stories are told, shared, and heard. Through it, the public is invited to engage with and learn from the lived experiences of migrants, stories that are too often sidelined, if not entirely erased, from mainstream discourse.
